As the oldest and most central community in Oregon, Prineville offers its visitors and residents the best of both city and country life.  Rummage the many one-of-a-kind shops in the downtown area.  Take a visit through the fabulous collections of the Bowman Museum.  Spend a day shooting 18-holes at the local golf course.  Watch as the June cattle drive through town marks the beginning of the annual rodeo. Prineville truly has something for everyone.

Outdoor enthusiasts beware...Prineville residents take nature and recreation very seriously.  There are a multitude of nature’s activities that you can partake in year round.  The nearby Ochoco Mountains serve as a prime destination for camping, hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking.  The Crooked River provides 17 miles of haven for fisherman hoping to reel in their own wild redband trout.  In the summertime, local reservoirs are the perfect spots to enjoy skiing, boating and swimming.  The city’s golf course, Meadow Lakes, is an innovative course with 10 ponds, 66 bunkers and plays from 5,155 to 6,731 yards.

Inside the city, you will find many unique specialty shops, with products for every interest, including scrap-booking, antiques, gifts, floral, hand-made furniture, jewelry, toys, etc.  The ideal start to a long day of shopping is a tasty meal at one of Prineville’s breakfast cafes, where friendly service and hometown food are a must.  By day’s end, you can choose from a variety of worldly cuisines the town has to offer.
