La Pine's location on the banks of the Deschutes River
within the Deschutes National Forest offers residents and
visitors numerous opportunities to enjoy fresh water
activities. Trout fishing, kayaking and swimming can
be enjoyed on the Deschutes river or at the nearby East or
Paulina lakes.
During the summer months, take a horseback ride, mountain
bike ride or hike through the nearby national forests.
And don't forget to explore Oregon's famous lava lands and
the wilderness areas of the nearby Cascades Mountains, while
staying at the La Pine State Park.
In the winter, take a snowmobile trip through the rolling
foothills or a ski trip to Mount Bachelor, a short drive
away. Mount Bachelor offers both alpine and cross
country skiing.
